Fortis Data Group engineers the layer underneath analytics and AI, so an organization can prove where its data came from and defend what it produces. Federal programs and the commercial enterprise.
Start a conversationTo deliver the data platform, cloud, and AI engineering that mission-critical programs actually need: deep, accountable, and tied to outcomes. Fortis exists because too many programs have their technical decisions made by people who will not be there to live with the consequences. We stay on the work from discovery through handoff.
Organizations should not have to choose between moving quickly on AI and being able to prove what they built.
Engineer data layers that hold up under audit, under load, and under scrutiny.
Fortis Data Group was founded on something visible from inside large modernization programs: organizations invest heavily in analytics and AI, and then stall. Not because the model is wrong, but because nobody can answer the questions that come next. Where did this data come from. What happened to it. Why should anyone trust the output.
Those are not model problems. They are lineage, quality, provenance, retention and access control problems, which is to say database and data engineering problems wearing an AI hat. In a regulated environment they are asked by an auditor, an authorizing official or a general counsel before anything reaches production, and that is where pilots die.
Fortis Data Group is a specialized data, cloud and AI engineering firm, working with commercial organizations, federal agencies, defense programs and the prime contractors who deliver them. We work the problems that require genuine depth. Large-scale cloud database modernization. Distributed systems running under conditions that break normal assumptions. AI and data platform engineering. Infrastructure automation. Compliance-driven architecture for environments where getting it wrong is not a recoverable mistake.
Every engagement is senior-led. Technical leadership stays accountable from discovery through handoff, with direct access to the engineers responsible for delivery.
Senior-led from first call to handover. The engineers responsible for the architecture remain accountable through implementation.
1 Point of accountabilityDatabase and data platform engineering, cloud modernization, and the retrieval, lineage and governance layers beneath AI systems. Across every major platform.
4 Cloud platforms in productionDelivered inside FedRAMP, FISMA, DoD RMF, HIPAA, SOX and SOC 2 environments, where records must be defensible rather than merely available.
100+ Migrations, no data lossTechnical decisions get made against the outcome that matters to the program, not the most interesting architecture available.
Whoever scopes the engagement delivers it. No knowledge transfer lag, and no gap between the proposal and the people who show up.
Existing clearances mean no adjudication wait on federal work. We can engage while others are still in processing.
FedRAMP, FISMA, and DoD RMF constraints shape the architecture from the first design session rather than getting retrofitted before an audit.
Benjamin Asante founded Fortis Data Group to put senior data platform engineering directly in front of the organizations that depend on it, without the layers that usually separate the people who scope the work from the people who deliver it.
His conviction is that most data problems are not modelling problems. They are provenance, quality and governance problems, and they are solved by engineers who have carried a pager for a production estate rather than by a slide deck. Fortis is built around that: the people who scope your work are the people who deliver it, and nothing is promised that we would not be comfortable being paged about at three in the morning.
Benjamin holds Public Trust and Department of Defense Secret clearances concurrently, with production depth in AWS and delivery experience across Azure Government, Oracle Cloud and Google Cloud.
Maame Tiwaah Frimpong leads the operational side of Fortis Data Group: contracting, compliance administration, financial operations, and the systems that keep engagements moving once engineering begins.
She brings a clinician's standard for documentation and verification to how Fortis handles client agreements, data handling commitments and the evidence trail behind its own operations. In medicine those are not administrative overhead, they are the difference between a good outcome and a bad one, and the same holds for a regulated data engagement.
Maame holds a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration.
Fortis engages vetted subject matter experts when an engagement requires expertise beyond the core team, including database engineering, analytics, and delivery management. All are United States persons, contracted and insured through Fortis, and identified to the client before work begins.
Named delivery staff are confirmed in writing as part of the engagement scope.
Anansi Cloud Systems builds and operates the cloud platform layer: landing zones, infrastructure as code, container platforms, and secure delivery pipelines. Fortis engineers the data layer that runs on it.
Where an engagement needs both, one firm primes and subcontracts the other under a teaming agreement, so the client has a single contract and a single point of accountability.
SFM Script builds custom software, web and mobile applications, and provides design, hosting and ongoing management. Fortis engineers the data layer underneath.
Each firm contracts directly for its own scope. Where an engagement needs both, that split is defined before anything is signed.
Vendor programmes and platform relationships. The platforms we build on, as distinct from the firms we deliver alongside.
Fortis is a member of the AWS Partner Network, enrolled in the Services Path. AWS is the primary delivery platform for our engagements, including AWS GovCloud for federal workloads operating inside an accreditation boundary.
The depth behind that is specific rather than general. Managed relational platforms on RDS and Aurora, analytics on Redshift, key-value and caching on DynamoDB and ElastiCache, generative AI on Bedrock, and the whole estate provisioned in Terraform rather than by hand. Over a hundred enterprise database migrations have landed on it without data loss.
We also deliver in Azure Government, Oracle Cloud and Google Cloud.
